Program Description

Event Details

Join us at the Rollins Savanna to see the world from a bug’s point of view! Discover the similarities and differences between insects and spiders. We'll catch some bugs and examine them up close—don’t worry, they’re not scary, just tiny superheroes in disguise! Explore a variety of local insects and spiders, and discover their fascinating behaviors and roles in the ecosystem, from pollinators to decomposers.

How Are Bugs Like Superheroes?

Insects exhibit remarkable speed, strength, and social intelligence—traits often associated with superheroes. For example, some insects can lift objects much heavier than their own body weight, while others can fly at impressive speeds. Additionally, they provide valuable services to humanity. Insects help control harmful pests, pollinate the flowers and crops that provide us with food, and act as nature’s cleanup crew by breaking down dead plants and animals. They play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy and balanced environment!
