Neil Gaiman is The New York Times bestselling and award-winning author and creator of books, graphic novels, short stories, film and television for all ages, including Neverwhere, Anansi Boys, Good Omens (with Terry Pratchett), Smoke and Mirrors, Fragile Things, Trigger Warning: Short Fictions and Disturbances, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Norse Mythology, The View from the Cheap Seats (nonfiction essays), and The Neil Gaiman Reader: Selected Fiction. He is also the author of American Gods, winner of the Hugo, Nebula, Bram Stoker, and Locus awards and proclaimed one of the 125 most important books of the last 125 years by the New York Public Library. Gaiman elevated an entire genre with The Sandman comics, widely considered one of the most influential graphic novels ever.
Named one of the most influential people in the world by Time Magazine in 2023, Gaiman’s fiction has received Newbery, Carnegie, Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy, and Will Eisner Awards. He has worked closely with the film and television adaptations of his works, including Coraline, The Sandman, American Gods, Stardust, Good Omens, and the upcoming Anansi Boys. His works for younger readers include The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish and The Wolves in the Walls (made into an opera by the Scottish National Theatre). A self-described “feral child who was raised in libraries,” Gaiman credits librarians with fostering his lifelong love of reading and is a passionate advocate for books and libraries. Born in England, he lives in the United States and teaches at Bard College.
