Program Description

Event Details

Learn what makes butterflies and moths different and how these winged wonders survive by tricking predators as you fly through a series of activities using preserved specimens. For the finale, experience metamorphosis first-hand! The Lake County Forest Preserve will be presenting this flutterly amazing program about these fascinating insects!

Butterfly Life Cycle:

We all love butterflies for their beautiful, brightly-coloured wings. But did you know that these fab flyers begin life as something completely different? As they grow, they undergo one seriously terrific transformation – a process known as metamorphosis. They begin life as a tiny egg, once hatched begin the very hungry caterpillar stage, after filling their bellies they enter the third stage and form a pupa or chrysalis, and eventually they emerge into the beautiful butterflies we love!
