Food, family, and fun! We will read the book Fry Bread and talk about our own special family traditions, then make some fry bread to eat!

What is Fry Bread?

Fry bread is a flat dough bread fried or deep-fried in oil, shortening, or lard. It is made with simple ingredients, generally wheat flour, sugar, salt, and fat. You can eat fry bread on its own or top it with honey, jam, powdered sugar, venison, or beef. For generations, fry bread has been a staple food for some Indigenous peoples of North America. The history and stories behind fry bread have deep cultural significance for many Native families.
