Our popular book-inspired lecture series returns, but this time as Pages of History: Gen X Edition! In honor of the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, Growing Up X, we have chosen three books that were cultural touchstones during the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Three different presenters will take participants beyond the book to discuss the history of when each book was written and the contemporary topics that take place within the stories. Partnering with the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum and the Grayslake Historical Society, the three books and their respective presenters are as follows:
December 3: Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret with speaker Michele Hurwitz
Michele Weber Hurwitz is an award-winning author of five middle grade novels. Hello from Renn Lake (Penguin Random House) won the 2021 Green Earth Book Award for Children’s Fiction. Her other books have been on several state reading award lists, including the Illinois Bluestem, and received starred reviews. Michele lives in Northbrook, Illinois and is an avid hiker, adventurous traveler, and lover of ice cream. More info at micheleweberhurwitz.com.
