Welcome to The Gen X Games! Join us at The Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum at 11 AM, when video game historian Carly Kocurek will kick off this event with a presentation on the evolution of digital gaming, from arcade games to the handhelds carried in your pocket. Following her program, visitors are encouraged to stick around and play a few rounds at any of the several game stations that will be set up around the museum. Kick back on a vintage couch to play a few rounds of Super Mario Bros. or grab a few friends for a round of Girl Talk, Trivial Pursuit, or Mind the Gap.
There will also be a one-shot session of Dungeons & Dragons led by DM Luke Rathburn:
Trouble in Orlane will take players on a trip back to the 1980s in this classic D&D one-shot! Take on the role of one of the main characters of the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon as they investigate strange disappearances from the town of Orlane, and delve into a nearby dungeon to do battle with a self-styled deity. This is a classic D&D adventure that is suitable for newer players or seasoned vets. Pre-generated character sheets will be provided to attendees.
Spots for the D&D session are limited, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible. The rest of the gaming stations will be open to the public during the Heritage Center's open hours.
Thank you to the Grayslake Historical Society and Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum for partnering with us on this event.
