Event Details
Begin the event at the library to create art in the Mobile Art Bus, engage with our collection of Juneteenth materials, and dance to music. As you journey on the Freedom Walk through Central Park, hear and read facts, get snacks, and end at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum. While there, you can color our community map, fill a sand vase, and learn from our keynote speaker, Antwoinette Ayers, Illinois Humanities Road Scholar presentation: Juneteenth in Me: A Journey of Remembrance and Education. This event is being produced in partnership with Illinois Humanities. The Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau invites Illinois authors, artists, and educators to share their expertise and enthusiasm with people throughout the state, enabling local nonprofit organizations to present free-admission cultural programs to their communities. Thank you to our partners: Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum and Community Consolidated School District 46 Board of Education. |
