Strategies to Help your Struggling Student Succeed- Do you have an adolescent, teen, or young adult in your life who struggles with managing the demands of school and you are left wondering what additionally you can do to support their success? Many students struggle with skills that are known as executive functions.  This presentation will be facilitated by Danielle Christopherson who is the Executive Functioning Interventionist at Grayslake Central High School on the AIM (Academic Intervention & Mentoring) team. She has over 15 years of professional experience supporting adolescents & teens with 8 of those years being in the public school setting with a Masters degree specializing in School Social Work. The goals of attending this presentation are for parents and other supportive adults of students (primarily focused on the middle to high school ages) to: develop a clear understanding of executive functions and how they affect classroom behavior and academic success and learn specific strategies and tools to support your students' time management, planning, organization, self-advocacy, and decision making abilities. Supporting your student’s executive functioning skills can lead to reduced stress levels, increased academic success, and more confidence when it comes to their school performance.
