Program Description

Event Details

Although you may know them only from the film, The Sound of Music, the von Trapp family was real, and their story of patriotism, honor, and the value of the cultural exchange through immigration still resonates today. In this program, author, historian, and educator, William Anderson, will discuss the background of the Austrian family, their experiences as world-class singers, and their current lives in the mountains of Vermont. The Sound of Music is discussed, and the movie’s blend of fact and fiction is explained.

William Anderson is a Michigan-based historian, educator and author. Among his 30 books of biography, history and travel is The World of the von Trapp Family and for children, V is for Von Trapp.
